Abstract:

The author presents the history of the NHK studio in Japan from the first musique concrète initiatives by Toshiro Mayuzumi in 1953 to 1969. He also describes other studios (e.g., Sogetsu Art Center of Tokyo) and various other manifestations including the Cross Talk Intermedia Festival of Festival Square.
