In a long introduction, the author describes the relationship the composer has with time. He presents different means of time manipulation created by John Cage, Iannis Xenakis, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Pierre Boulez. Afterwards he analyses the particularities of time in electroacoustic music: the perception of interior time and the relation between time and matter in works for tape.
