Abstract:

The author assesses the situation of electroacoustic music covering 50 years. Through several quotations from a variety of composers, he analyses its language characteristics, its relationships with art movements and the musical avant-garde, its social significance and its position within to economy. He concludes with a criticism of those who tend to link technology with the listening experience.
