The author divides his book into three parts: solo tape, mixed work and live electronics. In analysing each category, he focuses on the relationships between them and related works. Furthermore, he analyses the most important works by Stockhausen, Berio, Ligeti and Paris school of musique concrète and presents a selected discography for each category. He concludes with descriptions of commonly used compositional techniques.
