Abstract:

The authors analyse interactivity within musical processes. The first part details links between tradition and new technologies especially the increasingly important role of digital technologies. The second part examines the nature of interaction without new technology. The last two parts study the characteristics of interactivity in electroacoustic music: discretisation of musical gesture and the relation between gesture and sound result without relying on causality or synchronism.
