Abstract:

The author presents Xenakis’ computer tool, UPIC (Unité Polyagogique Informatique du CEMAMu) developped at the CEMAMu (Centre d’Études de Mathématique et Automatique Musicale). The four parts briefly explain the UPIC’s origins, its different versions, its working method and its applications.
