Anne Veitl presents history of French electroacoustic studios. First, she studies the GRM as a new venue for the creation of contemporary music. Then, she discusses other studios (GMEM, GMEB, CIRM, CEMAMu, IRCAM, ACROE, etc.) and analyses the relationships between cultural politics and their precarious situations. Finally, she describes the current issues: privatisation/individualisation of studios and the disappearance of distribution opportunities as well as the cultural politics of electroacoustic music.
