Abstract:

This article explores the relevance of "reproduction" as a musical model even in the face of technology that tends to dissolve the term by eliminating transduction noise in recording. It discusses the practice of retro filtering, adding transduction noise to recordings, from both a philosophical and aesthetic perspective.
