Abstract:

The author discusses some gestural works presented at a concert in 1997 and composed at the University of Illinois. Chin-Chin Chen and Colin Franey use concrete techniques in digital music. George Todd and Paul Koonce work with tonal elements. The last piece by the author was realised as a gestural soundscape for an eight-channel sound system.
