Abstract:

From Renaissance Antiphony to electroacoustic sound installation, the author writes a history of space in music. He presents the techniques and their musical use in five parts: historical antecedents, the loudspeaker orchestra in electroacoustic concerts, multimedia environments and sound installations, interactive environmental sound installations by David Tudor, spatial techniques in electroacoustic studio and multi-channel spatialisations.
