In this article the author discusses two of his algorithmic compositions that grew out of new mathematical techniques for digital sound synthesis. The point of departure is his view that music is not about mathematics; music is much closer to human concerns and much more conditioned by human psychology - and indeed physiology - than mathematics is. He also discusses some of the basic principles of digital synthesis and algorithmic composition.
