In this article, noting that the musical potential of the phase vocoder had remained relatively untapped and had been limited to experts in digital signal processing, the author presents an overview of the elementary possibilities of phase vocoder techniques in terms that are accessible to the musician, this includes both musical applications and technical specifications.
