In this paper, the author argues that electroacoustic music suffers a distinct lack of attention from the general public and is sometimes beset by a ghetto or excessively self-referential mentality within its professional community. He examines some procedures and attitudes within the electroacoustic art music community that he believes may contribute to this situation.
