The author analyses his live electronic work Sentences and develops his principles of analysis:
- He makes a distinction between:
- "Local controls and functions": the relation between the performer’s expression and sound production
- and "Field functions which place the result of this activity within a context"
- He introduces what he calls appropriate live electronic transformations:
- "Mimetic": imitation of an other sound
- "Impressionistic": metaphoric imitation
- "Synaesthesic”: evocations of colour and physical texture
- "Expressionistic": emotional state or feeling
