In this article, the author discusses the use of the radio as a found sound object. He contextualises his discussion with references to John Cage’s Imaginary Landscape No. 4 (1951), Karlheinz Stockhausen’s Expo für 3 (1969), and Stuart Smith’s Here and There (1971). A selected list of radio compositions (1951-1984) is included at the end of the article.
