Abstract:

In this article, the author discusses developments in electronic music through the years 1948-1953, as it was during this period that the foundations were laid for electronic music in its then present form (1968). The author presents a chronology of inventors and precursors, discusses the origins of musique concrète, elektronische Music and tape music, and lists several other significant developments.
