Abstract:

In this article, the author investigates issues concerning the general failure of electronic music in satisfying the expectations of listeners. He suggest that in order for composers to comprehend this situation, they must understand the reception behaviours of the audiences with whom they hope to communicate and that this understanding may be achieved by examining the fundamental psycho-social theories that account for electronic music’s reception by the public.
