François Bayle arrived at the GRM (Groupe de Recherches Musicales) studios in the 1950s coinciding with the appearance of electroacoustic music. In this article Bayle discusses the relationships between Pierre Schaeffer, Pierre Henry and the other composers of the GRM. He explains the differences between musique concrète and electroacoustic music. He also explains the specificity of electroacoustic music in comparison with real-time music and popular music, and the relationship between the GRM and other studios.
