Abstract:

Antara for small orchestra, two keyboards and computer is the only piece by George Benjamin that includes electronics. The electronic part (a pan pipe orchestra) was composed on a 4X computer at IRCAM (Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique). The author describes the different parts of the very simple structure (A-B-A’ and Coda) with a focus on timbral effects.
