Abstract:

New virtual instruments do not only permit an ensemble of actions but propose an infinity of possibilities. This article presents the two main categories of these new instruments: the gestural interface and physically modelled instruments. Focussing on the gesture/device relationship, the authors explain how these virtual instruments create new relationships.
