Abstract:

Barthelmes offers one of a pair of discussions (see Ulrich Müller, 1998 for the other one) investigating whether sound art is a genre or art form of its own or is simply an interdisciplinary area. By bringing in genre theory she finally chooses for the latter suggesting that such new interdisciplinary artworks form a considerable part of today’s and tomorrow’s art. There is much food for thought offered here.
