In this paper, the authors investigate ’bimanuality’ - the coordination, cooperation and general abilities of the human hands in musical contexts; in particular, the application of bimanuality to sound synthesis in the design of musical interfaces. They exemplify their discussion through three examples of bimanual musical interfaces - the Voicer, the Scan glove, and a voice-like controller.
