Abstract:

In this paper, the authors propose the notion of an infra-instrument, such devices are based on a minimal design concept, involving restricted interactive potential, and little sensor enhancement. Infra-instruments are designed to engender simple music with little opportunity for conventional virtuosity. The authors present several examples of their own infra-instrument designs.
