Abstract:

In this brief article, the author reflects on developments (ca. 1981) in hardware digital synthesis in terms of its potential application in real-time electronic music performance systems. He discusses his research using the Synclavier (a commercial digital synthesiser) to explore the interaction of human and machine in a performing environment.
