In this chapter the author introduces a discussion about Pierre Schaeffer’s work ranging from composition to theory to philosophical foundations and its importance for the development of electroacoustic music in France. Palombini argues that Schaeffer’s work was seminal for the art of musical composition and also to the art of listening to music.
