In the first part of this article, Denis Dufour explains the relationship between the composer and performer/interpreter of his/her work: the choice of work, the guide for the performer/interpreter and the choice of acousmonium (loudspeaker setup). He also discusses his preference for a spatialised stereophonic loudspeaker setup in comparison to multitrack diffusion, and relates his experiences of a concert in which two acousmoniums were used for his piece Chant de la plus haute tour. In the second part, Jonathan Prager, a performer/interpreter, explains his working method.
