Abstract:

After an introduction concerning the role of space (spatiality) in human perception, the author examines its importance in music. He details the different relationships between space and other parameters. In the third part of this article, the author presents his idea of “mental space” as the result of relationships which are established in musical perception: the “mental space” is the interpretation of music by listeners.
