Abstract:

After an introduction to aspects of traditional Austrian society, the author presents an overview of several studios of experimental music in Austria: The Graz Institut, the studio of electronic music at the Salzburg school of music, and the electroacoustic music studio at the Vienna school of music. He details the history of each studio, the various composers who have worked at each studio, and several prominent works.
