Abstract:

Through various artists, their works and techniques, the author offers an overview of the initial experiments in sound synthesis that were conducted by drawing on film. This technique begins at the end of the 1920s in Germany (Rudolf Pfenninger) and Russia (Voinov, Abrahamov and Yankovsky), and continued with the brothers Whitney (1940s) and Fischinger (1950s).
