The author introduces the école spectrale by way of a number of quotations and short work descriptions. In searching for coherence between electroacoustic techniques and a compositional model Castenet looks back at the following composers: Gérard Grisey, Huguet Dufourt, Tristan Murail, Roger Tessier and Michael Levinas.
