In this article, the author discusses issues surrounding the use of appropriated sound in music. He supports his discussion through an analysis of several tracks from John Oswald’s Rubaiyat EP. Through this anaylsis the author seeks to foster a greater awareness of the craft inherent in such works and the issues concerning engagement with corporate structures that are a re part of Oswald’s compositional language.
