Abstract:

In this very brief article, the author presents an overview of a portable digital sound synthesis system developed by Bell Laboratories (New York, USA). The system was the first of a new generation of instruments that combined all of the hardware necessary to produce, in real time performance situations, synthesised sounds that approached the complexity of a modest orchestra.
