Abstract:

Elettra Complex. Mapping research centres and musical production in Italy

This article analyses the urgent problem of documentation, conservation and restoration of electroacoustic music’s cultural patrimony which risk otherwise disappearing. This is caused by different reasons: the rapid deterioration of the supports, the vertiginous evolution of technological generations which make the different storage standards incompatible, electronic musical instruments which are very quickly discarded and in many cases dismembered and destroyed. The article suggests some solutions such as: to reconstruct historic electronic music laboratories or centres, to perpetuate performance praxis, to instruct new figure of professional experts.
