In this article, the author offers an account of experiments with sound and physical interaction from a designer’s perspective based on his involvement in the development of gestural music instruments and electro-mechanical human interfaces. In particular, he discusses the Diamorphone or Bandit, a gestural musical interface consisting of a fibreglass wand that affects musical parameters in real-time through its manipulation.
