Abstract:

This study is the result of a lengthy research project and Germany including a year’s field work in Mexico. The book offers a survey of Mexico’s contemporary music scene whilst in particular investigating its electroacoustic music. The contents are divided as follows: Background, Historical Developments, Composers and Their Works, Specific Phenomena and Sources. One point given particular emphasis is the influence of Carlos Chavez on Mexico’s musical life.
