Abstract:

L’amour de loin is a mixed opera by Kaija Saariaho for three singers, orchestra and electronics. The electronics were realized with MAX/MSP software. The authors describe four electronic types of sound: vocal and natural sound sampling, analysis/synthesis of instrumental sounds, comb filtering harmonic structures, filtering of vocal and natural sounds, spatialisation.
