The researchers of the Laboratoire Musique et Informatique de Marseille (MIM) present their theory on Temporal Semiotic Units: les Unités Sémiotiques Temporelles (UST). The study of music with UST is based on a semiotics analysis. The system uses units of significance such as falling, running up to and obsessional. There are 19 types of UST units which have been divided into two categories: with and without time delimitation. This book includes some audio examples for each UST on a CD, several of them are electroacoustic.
