This article is a complement to Bossis’ Phoné introduction. The author analyses John Chowning’s sound material and the global structure of Phoné (1980/81). He divides the material into two categories: vocal and percussive sounds, each category containing different typologies. The author gives several sound examples from each of these typologies.
