Dans le domaine de la musique électroacoustique, beaucoup d’œuvres existent sans partition. L’analyse auditive permet de mieux comprendre une œuvre et sa structure sans l’aide d’une partition, en se basant uniquement sur l’expérience d’écoute. Elle est utile aussi bien pour identifier les aspects généraux de l’œuvre (enregistrée ou créée en direct) que ses détails spécifiques. Cette technique implique généralement la pratique de l’écoute répétée.
