Simile a multimedia/intermedia, il termine indica le opere nelle quali artisti specializzati nell’utilizzo di diversi sistemi lavorano insieme alla creazione di una nuova opera. Idealmente, questa pratica si fonda su una nozione olistica, nella quale l’opera nel suo insieme è di più che non la pura somma dei suoi elementi costituenti. In molti casi, l’opera artistica interdisciplinare utilizza anche stemi audiovisivi.
