Envelope Following

The use of an electronic circuit which uses the dynamic envelope of a sound to control an amplifier to which some different sound is connected. The amplified sound, usually from a synthesizer, takes on the envelope characteristics of the controlling sound. (Source - Richard Dobson (1992).
