A phenomenon whereby the perception of a moving sound varies based on its position with respect to the listener. As it approaches a listener it is perceived at a higher frequency and as it moves away, a lower one. This may be attributed to the perceived sense of shorter wavelengths given a close proximity and longer ones further away.
